Thank you Mr. Stephen Geist for writing about my most favorite Space in the WholeWideWorld--Sumer! It is surprising how few good 'ole salt of the Earth know that it is the very first-civilization on the face of our planet. This wholly wonderful if seemingly desolated place 'started-it-all'. The most incredible early City-State "Nation" that practically no one knows about. (See any of our H.S. & College History Books as proof!!!!)

As amazing as this Near East place is no one seems to care--relatively speaking. [Compare it's exposure for example with what Hollywood has helped do for Egypt.] This is true even with all it's large exposed sculptures and writings going back multi-millennia...and even now displayed in major museums around the world(?).

It makes me feel a bit better that at least there are persons like yourself who choose to write about Sumer. There also are serious groups all around the world that meet both in person as well as OnLine. In fact there are 4 or 5 such very serious Groups on Facebook alone; each numbering around 50k each! I have been a member of one of them for about 5-years. We number around 65K and discuss and clarify everything imaginable regarding Sumer.

I 'stumbled upon' my very first book on Sumer in 1990--and have not looked back. I also was a member of a very active 'Sumer'-group here in NYC for a few years. We could hardly wait to meet and discuss the various apects of the wonders of Sumer. This vaulted historical array of Olden structures is at the top of the list of all the things I care about since reading, and re-reading that very first volume. Also researching and widely-reading a selection of other books on the subject.

I was quite surprised and delighted to 'stumble' upon your well written Piece while researching OnLine for a specific bit of INFOrmation. btw ~ I also write on MEDIUM.com, (for the past 5ish years) as well and plan to 'follow' your Works.
